The function of the Organ: the Kidney and
the endocrine system.
Let the hundred flowers bloom. Take from the blossom of the tree of life and condense them into the elixir. Dropping it into the crucible of the heart, cooking it in the flame of awareness, the flower essence transform into medicine, healing self and other. The Taiyin flower essence is part of the feminine alchemy.
What is flowering but the sexual opening of the tree, the flowering of procreation. The fragrance of the flower is the pheromone, the sex hormone of life. The Taoist calls it the Shen Shui, the Spirit water. This Shen Shui is the fountain of self regeneration, our body, our brain and bones, and the very activity of live depends upon it. Now, scientists have come to a convergence to this ancient wisdom. They call them the sex hormones, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, endorphin. Yet, this sex hormone besides being critical development of our sexuality and are also the core every fabric of our being, from the density of bone, to the regeneration of the brain and the metabolic rate of the daily activity. Truly, then the Taoist masters are better in calling them the Shen Shui, the Spirit Water, the Water of life which resides in the kidneys.
"At birth we are filled with the primordial yang, this yang waxes, decreasing, until on maturity it reaches the peak. Yin is also present, as life goes on, like a glass of win, the yin space increase, until all the yang creative fluid drains away, death occurs."---from the Taoist Cannon.
It is essential for the Taiyin practitioners to slow down and stop the leakage of the Shen Shui, the Spirit Water. From the lines of the Gatha, the Jade Maiden's thieving heart means in the practice, the heart should be in stillness. The merging of the five heart is symbolize the constant worry and fear especially for a woman. The hands are the activities of the daily life, the feet the future worry, the heart, the fear of abandonment and betrayal.
A woman has to pass the five gates of life.
Crystallize the Shen
The Supreme Elixir is accomplished.
Rest the Qi means daily practice of meditation.
Crystallize the Shen is a step further, the Qi remains still even during daily activity. There is the sense of pervasive tranquility and rightness in everything. When there is crystallization of the Shen one can have tremendous healing and generative powers.
The mutual enrapturing of Qi and Shen. The great Taoist Master points out that the Shen should be enfolded by Qi, and Qi is penetrated by Shen. Shen is one's spirit. This is a self procreating image of the dragon that eats its own tail, the auroboro. How does one practice this self enfolding? This is the heart of the Taiyin practitioners—the instruction must be transmitted from a living master to her students in full dimension of her life by her daily works and her physical movements--and the verbal instruction is the least important .
For the Taiyin practice is a living art, not a dead
techniques that anyone can master. It needs a living being to manifest
its full significance.
Don't leave any tracks.
Let not the mind attach to phenomenon.
Following the waves,
Treading the water,
Letting nature be.
The living masters of Taiyin leave no track, no fixed
teaching and techniques. This is pointing to the freeing oneself from worldly
attachment. By not leaving any tracks, the Taiyin master can not be hunted
down, nor followed.
My teacher told me, " It is like strolling and enjoying
the fragrance of the blossoms amongst a flowering bush without having petals
stick to one's clothing."
Her life is one of genuine freedom of choiceless
being. Reading the waves, and so gently treading the water, this water
is the Shen Shui. She understands the season of her development and her
hormonal cycles and practice accordingly.
Letting nature be is the hardest thing. So many
people live under the false delusion of controlling their destiny and life.
When will they come to realize that the intellect, and its dead knowledge
can not control the living dynamic of life! It is a losing battle. And
in surrendering to the nature of being, the world outside and the world
within, the richness of benediction comes upon one like the ray of soft
morning light.
Cultivation and realization are the two essential stages.
Only after full realization is the fruit ripened.
When one sit by a tree and not cultivate it, how
can there be good apple. Yet, if you cultivate and water your tree with
acid and pollution, the fruit will be poisonous. From the fruit of your
cultivation, you can verify your practice. Only when there is true realization
in one's life can the fruit be called ripened. This is like a blow to the
self deluded guru and spiritual guide of our time who enmesh a huge following
with neither fruit nor realization.
In cultivation there is slight intention,
Once realized there is no mind.
To cultivate, one must use slight mind intention--I
am going to practice today. This is to counter our initial inertia of laziness
and sloth. Once we begin to practice, let the movement and Qi flow by itself.
The initial intention is like ordering food from a waiter, once order one
can just sit back and wait for the food. When there is realization, there
is no need for further mind direction. It become very natural for the realized
master to do what needs to be done.
Then the immortal child emerges from the chrysalis.
Riding the clouds,
A single laugh echoes for a thousand years.
Emerging from the chrysalis of light, the immortal child metamorphose into full maturity. For the Taoist, the human form is the pupa stage of early development. The whole of alchemy is to assist and shorten the time of maturity. It is almost a micro evolution of a millennium in a single life time. The Taoist has deduced that the human race is destined to gradually evolve to a different plan of existence. The life we know now will be drastically change in 1000 years. At the minimum, there will be genetic labs that grow internal organs for organ replacement.
A single laugh is still echoing to now, a thousand
years ago, the great master, Sun Bei Er, wrote the above poem and the poem
is nothing other then her spontaneous joyous laughing. And hopefully, we
can laugh along with her.
